The Grand Prize Award

Congratulations to the 2010 Grand Prize Award recipient, photographer Lisa Wiltse from Weston, Connecticut! Her aim is to create photographs "that are intimate yet strong in narrative, and that gives voice to those previously overlooked."

Lisa's images document a community of Mennonites living in Manitoba, Bolivia, where horse-drawn buggies, manicured lawns and planted fields reflect a quiet, religiously inspired way of life. She captures the Mennonites of Manitoba in their everyday lives, struggling to erase a recent painful past and existing in communal isolation. We thank her for bringing us a vision into their world.
